Advent 2 – Tuesday

Jesus said to his disciples:
“What is your opinion?
If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them goes astray,
will he not leave the ninety-nine in the hills
and go in search of the stray?
And if he finds it, amen, I say to you, he rejoices more over it
than over the ninety-nine that did not stray.
In just the same way, it is not the will of your heavenly Father
that one of these little ones be lost.”

Matthew 18:12-14

The kingdom of this world measures success in numbers. The bigger the better. In the Kingdom of God, Jesus teaches us that numbers are of little importance to him.  What seems to be most important to him is restoration.

The scriptures tell us he absolutely loves it when a lost soul turns to him, no matter what that person has done.

You see, it really doesn’t matter to Jesus what we’ve done. What matters is that we were once lost and now we are found. It fills the Sacred Heart of Jesus with great joy each time a lost sheep is found, each time a prodigal son returns home.

Have you returned home or are you believing the lie that says that Jesus is fed up with you because of all the bad things you’ve done. Renounce the lie this Advent, turn from your old ways and come home to the One who loves you.
